Smith Farms, which designs and builds custom wood furniture of all types and in several styles, recently won multiple awards from both national and international design competitions for one of their custom tables, which they call their Summer Olive Occasional Table. To date, the table has won four awards:
- New York Product Design Awards Silver Winner in the Furniture – Accent Tables Category
- Muse Design Awards Silver Winner in the Furniture Design – Tables Category
- Titan Innovation Awards Silver Winner for Innovation in Design, Furniture Design
- London Design Awards Gold Winner for Product Design – Furniture
Matt Smith, owner and lead craftsman at Smith Farms, had this to say about the awards won by his company: “We were so excited to hear that our company had won multiple awards for our Olive occasional table from such prestigious competitions! Our table was competing with other pieces by some well-known furniture designers, as well as large furniture companies. As a small furniture company that’s relatively new to the industry, we weren’t necessarily expecting to win, so the fact that we did feels especially encouraging!”
The Summer Olive Occasional Table is crafted mainly from an Olive tree that had stood in Los Angeles for many years. Two thick sections of the tree were artfully combined to produce a tabletop with a beautiful organic shape. The live edges were painstakingly sanded so they would have a smooth finish, but still maintain their natural beauty. Beneath the Olive wood tabletop is a thin layer of Cherry wood that provides a nice contrast to the lighter Olive wood. To complete the table’s design, five tapered legs were crafted from Fig wood and strategically placed to provide superior stability to the table.
Smith Farms unveiled the table at the 2023 Western Design Conference, an exclusive event held every year in Jackson Hole, Wyoming that features artisans from around the country. Smith Farms was one of only 13 custom furniture makers to showcase their furniture at the event.
The Summer Olive Occasional Table is currently available for purchase and can be viewed in person at the Elevated Living Design Showroom in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
